Introduction to Washers and retaining rings

1. Washer
A gasket is a common mechanical component, usually a flat metal ring, mainly used to act as a buffer, isolation and seal between two fasteners, to ensure the stability and reliability of the fasteners.

-  Main Functions  :
- Buffering and Protection  : Increase the contact area, disperse the pressure, and prevent the surface of the connected parts from being damaged.
-  Anti-loosening  : By increasing friction or elastic support, prevent nuts and bolts from loosening due to vibration.
- Sealing  : In some applications, gaskets can serve as a seal to prevent the leakage of liquids or gases.

-  Common types  :
-  Flat gasket  : The most commonly used, it is used to increase the contact area and protect the surface.
-  Spring washer : It is elastic and prevents the nut from loosening.
-  Locking washer  : Increases friction through a special structure to prevent loosening.

2. Retaining Ring (Circlip)

A retaining ring, also known as a retaining ring, is a fastener used in shafts or holes to axially position, lock or stop parts. Its main function is to prevent the components on the shaft or hole from moving.

-  Main Functions  :
- Axial positioning  : Fix the position of the part in the shaft or hole.
-  Locking and Stopping  : To prevent parts from loosening or falling off due to vibration or external force.

-  Common types  :
-  Cutting the retaining ring  : Other auxiliary parts (such as pins, screws) are needed to achieve the positioning function.
- Conical pin locking retaining ring  : Fixed by cylindrical pins, it can withstand a relatively large axial force.
- Screw locking retaining ring : Fixed by screws, it is easy to assemble but has a relatively low load-bearing capacity.
- Elastic retaining ring  : Made of elastic material, it is usually used in the grooves of shafts or holes.
-  Elastic retaining ring for holes  : Limits the axial displacement of the shaft.
-  Elastic retaining ring for shaft  : Limits the axial displacement of the hole component.

-  Gasket  : Widely used in machinery, automobiles, construction, electronics and other fields, it is used for the connection of bolts and nuts.

Packaging & Shipping

Packaging materials

Small metal stamping parts are commonly made of plastic bags, plastic boxes, etc.

Medium-sized stamping parts, paper boxes or cartons are commonly used, which can provide certain cushioning protection and are environmentally friendly.

Large or heavy stamping parts, pallet packaging can provide better support and protection, facilitating forklift handling.

In special circumstances, metal packaging is used, such as when higher protective strength is required or when moisture-proof and rust-proof requirements are needed.

 

Packaging technology

Bulk packaging: The stamped parts are directly placed into the packaging container, which is suitable for products with regular shapes and not easy to be damaged.

Pallet packaging: Place the stamped parts on pallets and then seal them with plastic film or cartons for easy stacking and transportation.

Tape and reel packaging: For some small stamping parts, such as electronic components, tape or reels are used for packaging to facilitate automated assembly.

Cushioning protection: Add cushioning materials such as foam and sponge inside the package to prevent the stamped parts from being damaged due to collision during transportation.
